Primary malignant denovo giant cell tumor of kidney

چکیده
Background: Osteoclast-like giant cell tumors are usually observed in osseous tissue or as tumors of tendon sheath, characterized by the presence of multinucleated giant cells and mononuclear stromal cells. It has been reported in various extraosseous sites including breast, skin, soft tissue, salivary glands, lung, pancreas, female genital tract, thyroid, larynx and heart. However, extraosseus occurrence of such giant cell tumors in the kidney is extremely rare and is usually found in combination with a conventional malignancy. De-novo primary malignant giant cell tumors of the kidney are unusual lesions and to our knowledge this is the second such case. Case Presentation: We investigated a rare case of extraosseous primary malignant denovo giant cell tumor of the renal parenchyma in a 39-year-old Caucasian female to determine the histogenesis of this neoplasm with a detailed literature review. Conclusion: Primary malignant denovo giant cell tumor of the kidney is extremely rare .The cellular origin of this tumor is favored to be a pluripotential mesenchymal stromal cell of the mononuclear/phagocytic cellular lineage. Awareness of this neoplasm is important in the pathological interpretation of unusual findings at either fine needle aspiration or frozen section of solid renal masses.

متن کاملSecondary Malignant Transformation of Giant Cell Tumor of Bone: Is It a Fate?
The malignant transformation of conventional giant cell tumor of bone (GCTOB) is rare and usually occurs with irradiation. Here we report two neglected cases of conventional GCTOB with spontaneous malignant transformation at 11 and 16 years after initial diagnosis. In the former case, the patient refused to receive any treatment following the incisional biopsy, and in the latter, the firs...
متن کاملGiant cell tumor of patella: A case report and review of literature
Objective: Patella is a sesamoid bone which develops in the quadriceps tendon. It is an uncommon site for neoplasms. The most common primary tumors which involve patella are benign. These include chondroblastoma, giant cell tumor (GCT) and aneurysmal bone cyst. Malignant lesions are less common in patella. These encompass metastasis, osteosarcoma and hemangioendothelioma. The most common compla...
متن کاملPrediction of Clinical Course and Biologic Behavior of the Bone Giant Cell Tumor Using Bax and bcl-2 Markers
Background and Objectives: Giant cell Tumor of bone (GCT) is often regarded as a benign tumor, but its clinical course is unpredictable, has a high rate of recurrence, and even can metastases and transform to a malignant tumor. Histological features of the tumor often could not predict its future biologic behavior, so it is just called ''Giant cell tumor'' without indicating maligna...
متن کاملGiant Cell Carcinoma of Endometrium: a Rare Clinical Entity
Giant cell carcinoma of the endometrium is a rare and an aggressive tumor that should be distinguished from other endometrial tumors with a prominent giant cell component, including trophoblastic tumors, certain primary sarcomas, and malignant mixed müllerian tumors. At present, cumulative data on this rare histological variant is limited and the prognostic significance of the presence and the ...
